It’s time
to tax the big corporations that are fueling income inequality across
America.
Last month, I introduced a Wealth Tax to ensure the wealthiest 0.05% of
people in this country pay their fair share of taxes. Now, I’m standing
with Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Barbara Lee, and Senators Bernie
Sanders and Elizabeth Warren by co-sponsoring the Tax Excessive CEO Pay
Act.
This bill would tax big corporations that pay their CEOs and other top
executives at least 50 times more than they pay an average worker. CEOs
currently make 320 times more money than the average worker. That’s the
definition of excessive. It fuels income inequality and takes money away
from workers.
[ [link removed] ]It’s time to level the playing field and make corporations pay for
these excessive executive salaries. Sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the
Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act to turn some of that CEO pay into tax revenue
that invests in communities that really need it.

Over the last four decades, CEO pay has gone up by 1,000%. That’s right:
one thousand percent! And at the same time, average worker pay has only
risen by 13%. The truth is that the rich continue to get richer, while the
average worker tries to stay afloat. That’s not the way it should be.
This injustice has only continued during the pandemic. More than 40
additional people in America have become billionaires during a crisis that
has left millions struggling to afford food and housing. The incredible
social, economic, and racial injustice baked into the current system is
horrifying. But this bill is one step in the right direction and could
bring in $150 billion over 10 years to fund things our communities really
need.

to tax the corporations who are showering their executives with excessive
pay? We must stop corporate greed everywhere we see it, and bring power
and resources back to the people.
In solidarity,
Pramila
