Indivisibles,

Next week is a BIG week for D.C. statehood -- one of our key democracy
reform priorities. The D.C. statehood bill is on the move in the House
(with a committee markup scheduled for the 14th), and activists are
planning messaging around key dates like D.C. Emancipation Day on Friday
the 16th.

D.C. statehood is a crucial part of reforming our democracy to work better
for the people -- with more than 700,000 D.C. residents currently living
without representation in Congress, the majority of whom are people of
color, this is a historic injustice that we’ve got a short window of time
to correct.

And we expect the statehood bill to come up for a vote in the House the
week after next, which means we don’t have any time to lose: we need more
pressure on Senators to pass it when it arrives in their chamber.

There are just six Democratic senators who haven’t yet come out in support
of D.C. statehood -- so that’s where we’re focusing our energy. And we’re
starting with newspaper ads in each of their states, to the tune of almost
$60,000.

Take a sneak peek at what we’re planning below, and [ [link removed] ]click here to
donate $10 to help us place these ads, write resources, create call pages,
and do everything it’ll take to make D.C. a state and enact all our
progressive goals.

Each of our ads will have messaging tailored to the specific senator, and
we want you to be the first to see them -- here's a not-even-final-yet
sneak peek of the type of ad we're planning to print:

Need a little more detail? Here’s a quick rundown of our plan:

Kyrsten Sinema (AZ), Mark Kelly (AZ), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Joe Manchin
(WV), John Hickenlooper (CO), and Angus King (ME) are the last six
Democratic (or Dem-caucusing) senators who haven’t committed to supporting
D.C. statehood when it comes to the Senate. So we’re creating targeted
messaging to build the most effective pressure for each of them.

These newspaper ads are a crucial, highly visible piece of our plan to
make that happen -- and we have to pay for them soon. That means we need
grassroots support now to enable everything we’re planning. [ [link removed] ]Donate $10
today to fund our newspaper ads and all the other work we’re doing to make
D.C. a state, build a better democracy, and create a more progressive
tomorrow.

This movement has the power to transform the national conversation on
democracy. Together, we can build on decades of work by predominantly
Black activists in D.C. and elevate D.C. statehood even further to a
must-pass priority -- and with tons of hard work, we’re already well on
our way to doing just that. Thanks for everything you contribute to make
it all possible.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
