Getting to travel around the district and represent the interests of Californians, and frankly — all Americans — is the honor of my life. Speaking with my neighbors and constituents about their thoughts and ideas on how to make our district, state, and nation better — and doing what I can to apply those ideas to create positive change whenever I head to Washington — is an incredible job to have and a great privilege.
But I'd be lying to you if I didn't say that while I’m on the job, I miss my family.
My wife Brittany, son Nelson, daughter Cricket, and me.
It seems like more and more often, late-night votes and emergency situations call me away. I don’t always make it to every event, and there’s even been a time or two when after delayed flights and getting home early in the morning, I set off the burglar alarm at my own house.
Getting to work for you is truly the honor of my life, and knowing that you all have my back makes the time spent away from my family just a little bit easier.
