BIG ENDORSEMENT! Today, the PCCC is proud to endorse Karen Carter Peterson
for Congress in Louisiana's 2nd Congressional District (New Orleans). This
special April 24 runoff election is to replace Cedric Richardson, who
recently joined the Biden Administration.

Karen Carter Peterson is a longtime state senator, former DNC Vice Chair
of Voter Protection and Civic Engagement, and past chair of the Louisiana
Democratic Party. She is a strong supporter of Medicare for All, a Green
New Deal, and a $15 minimum wage.

As a result of an earlier open primary, Karen's opponent in this deep blue
district is a Democrat who has been endorsed by some of the most
influential Republicans in Louisiana politics.

Karen is endorsed by the PCCC, Stacey Abrams, EMILY's List, and the
Congressional Progressive Congress.

She is not accepting fossil fuel money or corporate PAC money, and has
been a big advocate for families living in polluted "Cancer Alley."

On issues, Karen sees Medicare for All as being about economic justice in
addition to healthcare. She supports a $15 minimum wage, and adds that
"it's not enough" and should be higher. She also strongly supports
investing in states in order to do robust voter protection.

Resources in the next 2 weeks are crucial because large swaths of the
electorate are up for grabs.

In the very crowded 15-way primary, Karen came in second behind Troy
Carter -- a Democrat that Republican leaders in Louisiana have endorsed.
But the Dem who came in a close third behind Karen has endorsed her and
joined forces to take on Carter.

Together, they got more of the vote than Carter, but another 20% of those
who voted remain up for grabs -- along with the more than 80% of voters in
the district who skipped the low-turnout primary altogether.

This solid blue district that includes New Orleans should not be
represented by any Democrat that is endorsed by powerful Louisiana
Republicans -- not when it could send a progressive to Congress who
supports Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and a higher minimum wage.

24 election -- and become the latest bold progressive ally to increase
progressive power in Congress!

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
