As President Joe Biden works to fill his Cabinet with diverse, well-qualified nominees who look like the country they represent, the backlash from right-wing Republicans has been fierce.

For example, Vanita Gupta and Kristen Clarke, both women of color who have been nominated to important roles at the Department of Justice, have been met with extreme opposition from Senate Republicans who have been spreading falsehoods and baseless smears about their past statements and experience.

And though they were eventually confirmed, our new Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and our new HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge also faced resistance from obstructionist Republican Senators.

Enough of this nonsense. The American people sent a Democrat to the White House and a Democratic majority to the Senate to work on their behalf -- and it’s about time for Republicans to stop trying to block these extraordinary, highly-qualified candidates.
