This pandemic has shone light on the struggle of working people who don’t have the guarantee of paid sick leave from their jobs. For far too many Virginians, a positive COVID test can mean missing rent, having to skip out on childcare, or being unable to put food on the table.

No matter where you work or how much money you make, you should be able to rely on paid leave if you get sick. It’s a risk to public health when folks can’t afford to miss work when they’re sick.

I’m running for Lt. Governor because I believe our economy is stronger when workers have the protections they need. For too long, our leadership in Richmond has been unable to make the crucial guarantee of paid leave, a policy that would help women and people of color more than anyone else.
