It was announced in December that fraudulent cases could total as much as $2 BILLION dollars. Tens of millions alone have reportedly gone to prison inmates, or to people out of the state.
Meanwhile, legitimate claimants have been denied payments for months! Even California firefighters, who put their lives on the line during the dangerous fire season in our state, were denied payments to make ends meet.
The EDD is failing miserably, and instead of addressing the issues and getting to work fixing it, Gavin Newsom is continuing to fail Californians by silencing and covering up the problem.
I recently held a press conference in Bakersfield to share my plan to reform and overhaul California’s Employment Development Department. I’m proud to have taken on corruption and extreme dysfunction in San Diego, and as mayor I brought commonsense solutions that worked.
Now I’m ready to do it for the whole state, and get California back on track as #1 in the nation to work, live, and play.
Here are my top three priorities for reforming the EDD:
- Pausing any new programs for EDD until it fixes its unemployment system.
- Making EDD the state’s top tech project.
- Eliminating any and all roadblocks to reform.
If you’re ready to fix the EDD and help Californians who are in desperate need of relief, please chip in now to my campaign. >>
We’re getting closer to a recall election every day, and I need your help to get the word out that we CAN fix this.
Don’t miss the chance to be a part of the California Comeback, and fix what’s broken in the Golden State.
Thanks for your help,
Kevin Faulconer
