California Needs a Bold Infrastructure Plan Too Friend, With both an economic and climate crisis simultaneously affecting California and the world, a path forward requires a bold plan that promotes both economic recovery and climate action. Investing in infrastructure and clean energy is long overdue. As President Biden unveiled his American Jobs Plan- an historic infrastructure plan that addresses public health and climate action as a road to economic recovery- we couldn’t help but reflect on the lack of bold infrastructure policy here in California. As a global leader in climate action, California should be at the forefront of this discussion. Our biggest obstacle to achieving something like the American Jobs Plan in California is the unbalanced power and influence polluting industries and their allies have on legislators. We need resources to help us counter this opposition messaging. Your financial support helps us organize and lobby across our California communities and hold our leaders accountable. The American Jobs Plan aims for transformational progress in our country’s infrastructure while tackling climate change and protecting our communities--especially vulnerable and disadvantaged communities--from billions of dollars in damage from the devastating impacts of floods, storms, and wildfires. This is the kind of policy we need here in our state and why we must act now. We see the price of inaction on the climate crisis all around us, as wildfires are becoming a year-round existential threat and our coastlines erode. We desperately need an infrastructure plan in California that commits to justice and equity by addressing public health and climate action as the road to economic recovery. We need resources to hold our California state leaders accountable to the same kind of standard as the American Jobs Plan. Please consider helping us with your financial support. Give a donation of $25 today. California has been a global trailblazer in climate action, and we can continue to pave the way with the right leadership. The Biden administration sees the value in making our infrastructure more secure and resilient; help us get California there as well. In solidarity, Mary Creasman CEO |
