An all-encompassing stimulus package that not only puts money directly into the hands of Americans but sets up the logistics to make sure that we can get vaccines in the arms of Americans. Not only did the American Rescue Plan put money in the hands of Americans, but it’s helping get New York back on track. Through this bill, we are stimulating the national and New York economy after this pandemic. The legislation’s provisions will provide New York with more than $9.174 billion in relief for K-12 schools, $12.825 billion in state fiscal relief, and $9.948 billion in local fiscal relief. Helping individual New Yorkers, but also helping to stimulate small businesses and public transit systems like the subway. This package generates $1.25 for every $1 of spending, cuts child poverty in half, and lifts nearly 12 million people out of poverty. It is a huge win for Americans across the country, and that’s why I voted YES on the American Rescue Plan, even though every one of my Republican colleagues in the House and Senate Voted NO.
