TELL THE DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR TO PROTECT OUR LANDS AND WATERS

Oil and gas companies have gotten sweetheart deals on our public lands and waters for too long — it's essential we fix this broken system as soon as possible.

The Interior Department has paused new oil and gas leases and is now taking public comments on reform — we need to tell them to change the system so they're helping our communities and our climate, not big polluters.

Friend — for too long, oil and gas CEOs have taken advantage of an antiquated public lands system. They've boosted their profits at a heavy cost to local communities — polluting air and drinking water, threatening sacred sites, and making the climate crisis worse.

These impacts have been especially damaging to communities of color and Indigenous communities. It needs to change, and we're at a pivotal moment where we can make a difference.

Right now, the Department of the Interior has paused drilling leases on public lands and waters and is doing the first comprehensive review of the oil and gas program in decades. We need them to hear clearly from everyone who cares about our public lands and waters that it's time for them to be accessible, help in the climate fight and benefit all people.

Will you submit a public comment to the Interior Department now? We're seeking 7,500 comments today to make sure they hear from LCV supporters like you!

Right now, our public lands system puts fossil fuel development ahead of wildlife, recreation and maintaining clean air and water. It's polluting nearby communities, wasting taxpayer dollars, and making climate change worse.

We need to encourage reforms that make public lands serve us, rather than the oil and gas industry — by favoring clean energy development over fossil fuels, preserving and expanding recreation, and ensuring our public lands are managed in partnership with local communities.

We can't let the massive giveaways that happened under the Trump administration ever happen again — it's time to fix the rigged system, and that starts by showing the Department of Interior that we believe public lands are for people, not polluter CEOs.

We need 7,500 actions from supporters like you. Submit your comment to the Department of the Interior today »

New leadership and sweeping reforms of our public lands systems are sorely needed, and making our voices heard is the first step — thank you for taking the time to act today.
