Hi there,
The Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys coordinated their violence ahead of the January 6 insurrection, according to federal prosecutors.
Investigations into the days before the insurrection show that the extremist groups “organized an alliance” to keep Donald Trump in power. Oath Keeper leader Kelly Meggs instructed his followers to “wait for the 6th when we are all in DC to insurrection,” warning recruits that “this isn't a Rally!!”
Members of the Proud Boys showed up with paramilitary gear, handheld radios, and a strategy to attack doors with fewer Capitol guards. Right-wing leaders were in communication throughout the attack -- and after these white supremacists were peacefully escorted from the Capitol, Oath Keepers leader Donovan Crowl told his base: “Hope they got the message. The Storm has arrived.”
We can't let this get swept under the rug, no matter what.
As The Washington Post warns, “cooperation among militant groups can make them stronger and more lethal,” meaning that “if the groups remain viable, it is likely that they will continue to cooperate on their shared interests.”
It's abundantly clear that these groups are dangerous. That's why today, we need to hear from 75 of our most engaged supporters to inform our fight as we seek accountability:
Tell us, do you think the U.S. should designate the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers as domestic terrorist groups?
Thank you so much for your input and for helping us get the most accurate data to fight back against right-wing extremism in our country.
