I am working on vaccine distribution and the budget today, since the budget will be finalized over the coming 11 days. I also write with an update on the work we must do to advance the ideals at the heart of our work together: re-relecting Takis Karantonis to the Arlington County Board and electing Mary Kadera to the School Board.

On the budget, stay tuned. More to come. On our shared priorities, I want to tell you why I support Takis and invite you to a conversation Jay Fisette, Takis and I are having this Sunday. It will be a great conversation and is a fundraiser as well.
Takis Karantonis has relevant experience, commitment, and good, specific ideas on three of the key issues that led me to run for the board, affordable housing, inclusive economic growth, and the fighting climate change. He also is committed to investing in our schools and addressing hunger, two other key priorities. In less than a year Takis has already made a difference on racial equity, criminal justice reform, and equitable vaccine distribution. I support Takis wholeheartedly because he is the best choice to help move Arlington forward over the next four years on the ideals I hold dear.
Takis is Deeply Committed to Equity--Please support him and the Ideals we share

Each of you who knows me personally knows that education is part of why I ran for the County Board and at the center of who I am. As a result, I want to share with you my support for Mary Kadera for School Board
Mary Kadera’s experience as a teacher, Vice President of education for PBS, consultant for the Center for Inspired Teaching, and PTA leader here in Arlington prepares her well to serve our students and community. She is honest, thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely wants to serve on the School Board, perhaps the most difficult elected job in Arlington at this moment.

Given my own prior work as a teacher and an advocate for low-income students, students of color, and Native American students, I particularly appreciate that she is open and respectful about being an ally and focuses on data with respect to educational equity. I endorse Mary wholeheartedly as the right choice to serve Arlington on the School Board over the next four years.
Some of you may be asking why I am taking this time to mutli-task and ask you to support these two leaders. My answer is simple: elections have consequences. Both these leaders are in my view, the best choices to lead Arlington forward over the years to come for equity. As a result, I am working for them to work for the ideals that motivate you and I every day.
Serving you, Arlington, and equity, with a full heart.
