Hi John,
During the pandemic, racism against the Asian American Pacific Islander community has risen nationwide. In Maine, a woman and her young children were attacked in her car, community members have been called “virus” and told to go back to their country; undoubtedly, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
But this anti-AAPI racism is not new; it has been in our state and country for generations.
Join the Maine Democratic Party at 6pm on Wednesday, April 14 for an important panel discussion on racism against Maine’s AAPI community and what can be done about it.
Featuring:
Marpheen Chann, President, Cambodian Community Association of Maine
Meilin Brodeur, Social Worker & Vice President of the Board, Chinese & American Friendship Association of Maine
Ben Chin, Deputy Director, Maine People’s Alliance
Lutie Brown, President, Maine College Democrats
Ophelia Hu Kinney, Moderator, Director of Communications at Reconciling Ministries Network & Worship Coordinator at HopeGateWay
