History was made yesterday! We’ll break it down for you but we’ve got to ask:
DONATE $5 TODAY
FIRST >> March For Our Lives was formed from tragedy, and, today, we continue the decades-long work of the organizers that came before us. We were ignored by the Trump Administration, dismissed as clueless teens, and ridiculed and harassed by the NRA.
THEN >> We made gun violence something that then-candidate Biden couldn’t ignore. He made big promises. We showed up at the polls -- more young people cast their vote in the 2020 General Election than any other election in history. We made our demands heard - and pushed the Biden Administration to take immediate action. Just last week, the White House announced a $5 billion (that’s billion with a B) investment into community-based violence prevention programs -- strategies pioneered by frontline Black activists, proven to de-escalate conflicts before they end with guns, and something March For Our Lives directly called for.
NOW >> President Biden announced SIX sweeping executive actions to curb gun violence, including legislation banning ghost guns, empowering the Department of Justice, creating a blueprint for ERPOs, and naming a gun violence prevention advocate as head of the ATF, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Oh, and nbd but our own Mariah Cooley was in the Rose Garden for the announcement (whaaaaaat!!).

WHAT’S NEXT >> These executive actions are huge, but they alone will not end the epidemic of gun violence. We need the Biden Administration to continue prioritizing this issue and appoint a senior-level Director of Gun Violence Prevention to develop AND execute a national plan to address this crisis. We also need to see actions that close the Boyfriend Loophole, hold gun manufacturers accountable by revoking licenses from manufacturers who break the law, and ensure that the entire American Jobs Plan gets passed by Congress. Join us in asking the Biden Administration and Congress to take the next, logical steps to save lives:

And if you can, help us keep this momentum going, protect these executive orders, and get us organizing our communities on the ground:
