Baseball is all-American, folks, Republican efforts to suppress voting rights are not.

For years, Republicans have sought to suppress the right to vote — especially for communities of color — in the hopes of winning more elections. Right now, there are over 350 bills making their way through 47 state legislatures that would restrict the right to vote.

And perhaps the most egregious of them all is the abhorrent voter suppression bill Georgia Republicans have pushed into law that, among other things, makes it a crime to give food and water to voters waiting in long lines.

When I was governor of Colorado, I signed universal vote-by-mail into law. When we switched over to all mail ballots, we had the highest turnout ever. And we were still able to maintain election security. In fact, experts continually rank us as one of the most secure states for voting.

In Georgia, they have one ballot dropbox for every 100,000 voters. In Colorado, it’s closer to every 9,000 voters. That’s a big difference. We're happy to host the MLB All-Star Game in Denver, but it's a shame Georgia Republicans are bringing undue harm upon their state.

It’s time our country takes after Colorado and works to expand voting rights at the federal level. Will you sign my petition today demanding the Senate pass the For the People Act to protect access to the ballot box? [[link removed]]

This isn’t a partisan issue. This is about trying to make it easier to vote and encourage more people to get involved in our politics — and that makes our nation stronger.

Thanks,

John
