National Republicans have me at the top of their list of 2022 targets. They know I'm one of only seven Democrats who won their House race while Donald Trump carried the district last November, and Washington insiders know if they can spend enough against me, they can flip NJ-03 and take back the House.
We've already been subject to a number of early attacks against me and my record in Congress. The lies and misinformation campaigns against me will continue, and it's important I have the right team working alongside me to counter their baseless lies with the truth and reach the tens of thousands of voters we need to win again.
Thanks to you, our grassroots network of supporters and volunteers, this team already runs strong and deep. But as the attacks pick up steam, I know we'll need more people working alongside you in the field.
That's why I've made a commitment to build our 2022 Team Budget in April to ensure my staff has the resources they need to expand our talent. For context, in 2020 we had a team of 20 at our campaign headquarters, and today, I have two full-time political staffers. We need to grow our numbers soon.
