With the recent announcement by President Biden of his American Jobs Plan, which came on the heels of the American Rescue Plan, the nation’s attention is turning to how we restore and build the nation’s infrastructure to assure a successful economic recovery. CLASP, which has a decades-long commitment to child care, is actively engaged in helping the Biden-Harris Administration and others imagine the future of the caregiving infrastructure. We’re also helping lead collaborative efforts seeking public investment in caregiving. We co-led a webinar earlier this week with ZERO TO THREE on supporting young children and we’re helping sponsor the #CareCantWait Summit on Saturday that’ll feature Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and others.
We’re also hosting the Child Care: the American Rescue Plan and Beyond Roundtable on April 13 in which Catherine Rampell of the Washington Post will moderate a discussion with Secretary Grace Hou of the Illinois Department of Human Services; Rohini Kosoglu, Vice President Kamala Harris’s Domestic Policy Advisor; Mary Ignatius of Parent Voices; and CLASP’s Olivia Golden.

On April 7, Duy Pham was a guest speaker on the Leslie Marshall Show, where he and other expert guests – in recognizing April as Second Chance Month – discussed collateral consequences, how they impact young people, and what can be done to mitigate their impact. Listen to a recording of the episode here.
