In 2019 the Kansas Supreme Court ruled that access to abortion is a fundamental right under our state's constitution. On Wednesday, a Shawnee County District judge ruled a 2015 Brownback-ban on a standard procedure for second trimester abortions “unconstitutional and unenforceable.”  

This ruling is a huge step forward in the effort to maintain reproductive equity in Kansas. Kansans must have access to safe and legal abortion, yet Kansas Republicans remain hellbent on stripping their constituents of fundamental reproductive rights. 

The Kansas GOP voted to put a disastrous anti-abortion amendment on the 2022 August primary ballot. The “Value Them Both” amendment would reverse the 2019 Kansas Supreme Court ruling that grants Kansans access to safe and legal abortion. 

 

 

It is more crucial than ever that Democrats across Kansas mobilize and show up to the polls for the 2022 August primary to vote against this hateful amendment.
