One of many grave lessons we’ve learned during the COVID-19 pandemic is working people need a voice on the job more than ever. From nurses and EMTs to teachers and child care providers to social workers and warehouse workers, people who are in unions have been better able to navigate working through this crisis.
Every working person in America deserves a union.
The House of Representatives has passed the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which would make it easier for working people to form and join unions. Now it’s up to the U.S. Senate to act, and your senators need to hear from you!
Corporations and billionaires get away with union busting tactics all the time. States pass laws making it tougher or even illegal for people in public service to organize. These strategies rob us of our fundamental right to join together, to fight together and to negotiate together for a better future.
You know what being in a union means. You know it means better wages, better benefits, a secure retirement. You know the difference it makes to have someone standing by your side at your workplace. You know what it means to have a voice on the job.
Unions aren’t just better for their members. Unions built the middle class in this country, and they reduce income inequality and build a strong economy for everyone, not just the wealthy few. Union jobs are good jobs that build pride, respect and dignity for all workers and the work we do.
The Senate must pass the PRO Act so every working American has access to a union and a voice on the job. This is a turning point for working people. Please reach out to your senators today.
