A Conversation with Carl Hulse & Sherrilyn Ifill Our next AFJ Salon is coming up in just two weeks! Please join us for a conversation with Carl Hulse, Chief Washington Correspondent of the New York Times, on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30 PM at AFJ’s D.C. office. We're pleased to share that Carl will be in conversation with Sherrilyn Ifill, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. Carl and Sherrilyn will provide an insider’s look at the political fight over Scalia’s Supreme Court seat and discuss how McConnell’s decision to deny President Obama an appointment led to Trump, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh. They'll also dive into the impeachment inquiry into Trump. Carl Hulse is a recognized authority on congressional affairs and national politics. He is the author of the new and critically acclaimed HarperCollins book, "Confirmation Bias," which tells the inside story of the judicial wars rocking Washington and the damage they are doing to America's governing institutions. Ifill began her legal career as a fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union and then spent five years as an assistant counsel in LDF’s New York office.
