Dear Actors Fund Friends, We’re also so appreciative of your continued support; because while there’s hope on the horizon, we know the impact of pandemic shutdowns will linger within the arts community for years to come. Our programs and services must grow and adapt to meet the unique needs of the entertainment industry, and we’re honored to be able to do this thanks to your dedication to supporting a life in the arts. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy this week’s virtual offerings!
Angry, Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous Don’t miss Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, Heather Alicia Simms and Alicia Stith in Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous, on Stellar. Camille A. Brown directs Pearl Cleage’s “funny and hopeful” (Georgia Magazine) comedy all about aging gracefully and gorgeously. Anna Campbell, now 65, sparked controversy when she bared it all on stage years ago. When a theater festival asks to re-stage the work with a younger actress in her role, dramatic and comic fireworks ensue. Tickets are on sale now for $15, and on demand streaming is available for all ticket holders until 6 pm ET on April 12. Get your tickets today! Proceeds benefit The Actors Fund.
Stars In The House Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley’s live talk show, Stars In The House, has raised more than $824,000 to benefit The Actors Fund! Join us next Friday, April 16 for Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins night! Riders of the Purple Sage: The Making of a Western Opera Quantum Leap Productions presents Riders of the Purple Sage: The Making of a Western Opera, a documentary film that celebrates the artistry of live theater, as an online benefit to support creative professionals out of work due to the pandemic. In the award-winning documentary, opera’s hallowed traditions and America's cowboy culture converge to celebrate the collaborative power of art. The documentary details the creative process of all artists involved in live theater onstage and backstage. Zane Grey is read by Peter Coyote, with performances by shining young opera stars Karin Wolverton, Morgan Smith, Laura Wilde, Joshua Dennis, Joshua Jeremiah, Keith Phares and Kristopher Irmiter.
