Board approves study for new train horn quiet zone

On Monday, the Oswego Village Board approved a study to investigate establishing a railroad quiet zone in downtown Oswego. Currently, train conductors on the Illinois Railway are required to sound their horns as they pass through downtown Oswego.
The newly approved study will identify new signs, gates, lights,? and other safety measures that would need to be added at railroad crossings in Oswego to establish a quiet zone where horn blasts are not required, as well as the cost for implementing the improvements.?The study is just a first step in establishing a quiet zone, which must be approved by both the state and federal government. Coffee with the Mayor is April 10
The Village of Oswego invites residents to join Village President Troy Parlier for coffee at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Oswego Police Headquarters. Coffee with the Mayor is open to all residents and free to attend, but registration is required to ensure social distance in accordance with state guidelines. New RIOT!! Pizza coming to Oswego

Minor Threat Restaurant Group, the minds behind Yorkville-based Crusade Burger Bar, is bringing a new pizza concept to Oswego.?RIOT!! Pizza will feature a menu of pizza and craft beer in a 4,000-square foot space heavy on atmosphere at the corner of Washington and Harrison Streets, in The Reserve at Hudson Crossing in downtown Oswego. The new MyCivic 311 app allows residents to request repairs to potholes and streetlights, report graffiti or missing street signs and much more with a couple taps from their phones. Spring Clean-up Week is April 19-23
Spring cleanup trash
Each spring and fall, Groot Industries collects additional household waste, yard waste, and bulk items from residents at no extra charge. This year, the spring cleanup will be the week of April 19, with collection on your regularly scheduled garbage day.??Yard waste must be placed in 30-gallon Kraft bags, but stickers will not be required during this week. Place all items, along with your regular garbage and recycling, at the curb by 6 a.m. on your regularly scheduled collection day.? Questions? Contact the Public Works Department at 630-554-3242.
