John—
This morning, President Biden announced a number of executive actions to address the gun violence epidemic at a press conference attended by Gabby Giffords and other gun safety champions.
Among these executive actions are a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of ghost guns, a model extreme risk law released by the Department of Justice, and recommended community violence intervention investments in addition to the $5 billion included in the president’s recent jobs bill.
To underscore the urgent need for action on gun safety, next week our partner organization Giffords will unveil a Gun Violence Memorial on the National Mall to remember victims of the crisis and inspire the courage to act. The installation will feature 40,000 silk flowers to represent the number of Americans who die from gun violence every year.
Gratefully,
Lindsay
