John --
When we launched RG Action in Winter of 2020, we knew young people with access to wealth and class privilege had a role to play in the election--not only to defeat Trump but to cast our lot firmly with poor and working class movements. Even though electoral work was new for us, we knew we could move money, move members into action, and throw down with our partners in national and local electoral fights to ensure the movement was more powerful on the other side. Now we’re taking some time to reflect and evaluate, and we want your input! Our survey should take no more than 10 minutes and it will help inform the future of electoral work for our national community. Still working to understand what a c4 is and how RG Action works to build movement power through elections? Check out our FAQ.
In reflection, we’ve gotten to gather some info about where we’ve been and the impact we had in 2020. Here are some highlights:
- We Moved some money! In total, 76 people signed the c4 giving pledge for a total of $3,134,002, with $1.3M pledged to the Movement for Black Lives Electoral Justice Project and $410,000 Center for Popular Democracy Action and its affiliates, including the New Georgia Project. We feel confident this is just a fraction of the total c4 giving done by members this year.
- We leveled up on our electoral political education! In total, we hosted 8 political education and leadership development events with goals to help chapter members understand how c4 work builds movements. A total of 482 people signed up for these events. This included space for chapter leaders to process and plan both before and after the 2020 election.
- We laid the groundwork for local electoral work! 8 of 18 chapters have active c4 list serves: Boston, NY, LA, BARG, CHI, PDX, CT, NC. Does your chapter want a c4 list serve? Get one here!
This evaluation is intended to gather information on the impact of RG Action’s first year of operation. Our goal is to articulate a clear, nuanced, powerful vision of our work and how RG Action contributes to building power with poor and working class led movements through elections. Your answers will help us decide how to dedicate staff capacity and resources, and set strategy in 2021 and beyond. Please take 10 minutes to fill out the survey HERE.
Onward,
The RG Action Team
