Friend, Virginia just became the first state in the South to legalize marijuana! We’re thankful to our allies for reaching this major milestone in the fight for justice, and it comes just days after our wins in New York and New Mexico. 

We’ve got a lot to celebrate thanks to supporters like you. But even with momentum on our side, one person is still arrested nearly every minute simply for possessing marijuana.

Last week, we made history with major victories legalizing marijuana in New York and New Mexico centered in equity and social justice. 

Now 17 states and 40% of the population live in places where marijuana is legal. It’s clearer than ever that we need federal reform. But the Biden administration recently said it’s still opposed to legalization, too busy to act on its campaign promise to decriminalize marijuana, and that it’s up to Congress to change federal law. 

Help us convince Congress to act: tell your lawmakers to move federal marijuana reform forward immediately.

Last year, we took an historic step forward when the U.S. House passed the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. We need Congress to pick up where we left off by reintroducing this important bill, getting it through the House once again and onto the Senate.

Like our wins in New York and New Mexico, the MORE Act prioritizes marijuana justice by repairing the harms of prohibition which has disproportionately impacted Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and low-income communities. 

It’s time for Congress to reintroduce the MORE Act which would decriminalize marijuana at the federal level, reinvest marijuana tax revenue back into the communities that have borne the brunt of the drug war, expunge marijuana convictions, and fund opportunities for diversifying the marijuana industry.

Even as more and more states legalize marijuana, one person is still arrested nearly every minute simply for possessing marijuana. There’s so much more work to do federally and in places like the South which has some of the harshest drug laws in the country.

Demand marijuana justice for all: tell your members of Congress to advance the MORE Act and legalize marijuana nationwide.
