• The median age of our Senate members is 63.
   
• And over HALF of Senate members are categorized as “Professional Politicians.”

So it’s really no mystery as to why productive and effective legislation rarely makes it to the President’s desk. Brand New Congress is going to change that. 

Republicans in the Senate are hellbent on defeating any effort to deliver necessary relief. And Senate Democrats continue to vote against increasing the federal minimum wage to $15.

Meanwhile, extremely important bills that were previously collecting dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk are now collecting dust on Chuck Schumer’s.

While bills encoding an extremist conservative agenda are passed in state legislatures all across the country, we must pass federal protections and standards like the Equality Act, the For the People Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. We can’t let our already fragile democracy take another hit.

The upper chamber of Congress is in need of a major shakeup. Corruption and hyper-partisanship run deep, causing needless human suffering in a country that claims to be the greatest in the world.

But I know we can do better.
