Welcome to National Youth HIV & AIDS Week's Day of Action! While we’ve come a long way in how we talk about and treat HIV & AIDS, it’s easy to forget that the law hasn’t quite caught up. Can you use this link to send a letter to your Senators and Representatives asking them to update outdated laws that harm people living with HIV?
In so many ways, merely living with HIV is criminalized in this country. Check out and share our Instagram explainer here to see what we mean.
If this is as upsetting to you as it is to us, we've got something you can do today. Not only can you send a letter to your members of Congress above, but you can share the action and educate your community using our Day of Action Toolkit here.
We need as many people to post those graphics and share that action as possible. So don't be shy about sharing it with friends or other organizations and student groups. Tag us in the posts and we'll be sure to share!
Then tonight at 5pm EST, we'll be on Instagram Live with NYHAAD Collective member and Engaging Communities around HIV Organizing (ECHO) youth activist Eunice Mejiadeu (she/her). Eunice will interview Advocates for Youth's Domestic Policy Coordinator, Kamilah Tisdale, about the REPEAL HIV Discrimination Act, sponsored every year by Representative Barbara Lee.
Hope to see you there!
In solidarity,
