John, since our inception, the goal at Amplify Action has been to uplift Black voices in the hopes of creating a more representative democracy. With your support, we elected Georgia’s first Black Senator,
Raphael Warnock, and the first Black, Indian and female Vice President,
Kamala Harris.
Despite our efforts, however, minority representation in government is still a major issue. There is a huge absence of Black politicians, particularly in southern states, making them even more vulnerable to racist policies like the voter suppression efforts we’re seeing in Georgia.
Our democracy cannot function unless we all have a seat at the table.
Amplify 100 is a program specifically designed to recruit, train, and elect 100 Black men in the Southeast. This program is yet another way to ensure that our communities’ interests are considered in important decision-making.
We have to narrow the gap of representation to ensure the safety of our progress, and this just a first step towards doing so.
In solidarity,
-- Ra Shád
