Hello John,

Please join us on October 23, 2019 from 6 to 9 pm at the Bram and Bluma Appel Salon at the Toronto Reference Library for LEAF’s annual Persons Day Gala.

LEAF’s Persons Day Gala is our largest and most important event. The funds raised directly support our work to advance equality rights through litigation, law reform, and public education, and create real change in the lives of women and girls.

This year’s Persons Day Gala will be particularly special as we mark the 90th anniversary of the Privy Council’s historic decision recognizing women in the legal definition of “persons”, thus allowing women to sit in the Senate, and generally paving the way for the greater participation of women in Canada’s public and political affairs.

Come celebrate 90 years of women agitating for change and a better Canada along with fellow LEAF supporters, including members of the legal, feminist, academic, activist, corporate, and labour communities.

In addition to great food and cocktails, this year’s Persons Day Gala will include what is sure to be an entertaining performance from an all-female cast from the world-renowned comedy theatre, The Second City. ([link removed]) They will help us revel in women’s empowerment with a good laugh!

Tickets are now available through Eventbrite. ([link removed])
Individual tickets are $250, or you can purchase 10 for $2,400.
As a not-for-profit organization, with no ongoing source of funding, we count on events such as this to keep operating. LEAF’s work remains important – and particularly relevant in these times where we see ongoing threats to women’s rights. Together, we can help prevent violence, guard against the spread of cyber-misogyny, eliminate discrimination in the workplace, protect access to reproductive health services, advocate for better maternity benefits, and secure rights to pay equity.

We look forward to seeing you on October 23rd!

Kind regards,
Megan Stephens
