Dear Friend,

None of us need to look very far to see the economic devastation of the pandemic. It is all around us—a neighbor who lost their job, a friend or family member whose hours were cut and income severely affected. At the National Urban League, we have always worked hard to promote job security and career development for underserved communities—and this past year we have worked exceptionally hard.

I know how much you care about our efforts—I see you as a generous friend and I thank you for standing by us.

May I count on you once more, to help us promote economic empowerment, social parity, and civil rights? There are many ways to give:

Your contribution can help to us realize our mission: helping Black Americans and others in underserved communities achieve economic self-reliance. Take Ebony. Ebony had a good job for over a year, working in the medical field in Virginia. Then suddenly, due pandemic-related budget cuts, her employer suddenly reduced her hours by 25 percent. After falling a month behind on her rent, she reached out the Urban League of Hampton Roads (ULHR) for assistance.

Though Ebony had her hours restored in July of 2020, she had accrued late fees on bills and was struggling to get caught up on rent. ULHR stepped up to help. The affiliate team worked with Century 21 to waive all her late fees, and they provided her with an action plan and manageable timeline for reducing her debts.

Thanks to our supporters, Ebony is current with her rent and paying her bills on time. She even used a small amount of surplus income to enroll in an Urban League emergency savings program to help her plan for the future.

Friend, you can stand in solidarity with hardworking individuals like Ebony. Please show your support by making your gift today

With gratitude,
