POLITICO: “Prosecutors unveiled new conspiracy charges against four leaders of the Proud Boys, the pro-Trump extremist group that participated in the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, charging them with a plot to disrupt Congress' certification of the 2020 election.”
Chilling new details from investigations into the January 6 Capitol insurrection show that Proud Boys members had a clear, premeditated plan to keep Trump in power -- they used paramilitary gear, handheld radios, and encrypted messaging to coordinate with disguised members during the attack.
These white supremacists even formulated a strategy to attack doors with fewer police officers, with no telling how they got that intel.
But the most alarming part of these new charges? In one of the encrypted messages decoded by prosecutors, Proud Boys leader Zach Rehl told supporters on Jan. 7 he was “proud... of what we accomplished yesterday, but we need to start planning and we are starting planning for a Biden presidency.”
The Proud Boys represent the worst of the right-wing extremism Donald Trump has enabled. If we don't take steps to end their influence now, we WILL see more violence.
