The time to act is NOW.

44 states introduced dangerous attacks on abortion:

Moving list of states gif

What's happening across the country is brutal and scary.

More than 500 abortion restrictions have been introduced in 44 states this year. Yes, you read that right. More than 500 abortion restrictions.

Now that the Supreme Court has been stacked with justices who have long records of hostility to abortion access, politicians are moving at rapid speed to pave the way — and prepare — for the end of Roe v. Wade.

We're raising the alarm. We will not sit back and let them control our bodies and our lives.

We need to raise $200,000 in the next 72 hours to fight these attacks. Will you help? Rush a gift to Planned Parenthood Action Fund to defend abortion access and protect reproductive health and rights.

Your ZIP code should NOT determine your ability to access safe, legal abortion. But right now, it does.

Consider two young women — let's call them Helen and Jody — who find out they're pregnant at six weeks along. Neither of them wants to be pregnant.

Dispatch from Illinois

Helen can walk into a health center right away and talk to a clinician about her options. She will not be forced to have an unnecessary ultrasound or pelvic exam. The information she receives will be grounded in science. That's because Helen's home state of Illinois has doubled down on policies to make reproductive health care as accessible as possible.

Of course, Helen may still face systemic barriers to care. If she is Black, Latina, or has a low income, statistically she will have a harder time accessing abortion than if she is white or has a high income.

Dispatch from Arkansas

Jody lives in Arkansas where they passed a near-total abortion ban last month. The ban is scheduled to go into effect in August if a court does not intervene, but Arkansas has plenty of restrictions in place *right now* to prevent her from accessing care. Jody must get state-directed counseling that is designed to discourage her from choosing abortion. Then she must wait 72 hours before having an abortion, which requires two in-person trips to the clinic — in a pandemic. She will likely have to travel far, since 97% of Arkansas counties had no clinics that provided abortion as of 2017. And if she is insured through an ACA marketplace plan or Medicaid, her abortion will not be covered. Each of these barriers only widens the gap between who can access abortion and who cannot.

This is unacceptable. We can't let it stand. Donate to help reach our urgent goal of $200,000 in the next 72 hours, so we can fight to expand and protect reproductive freedom in EVERY state.

We're in this together and we will not back down.
Sincerely,
Alexis McGill Johnson, President
Planned Parenthood Action Fund
P.S. I'm not an alarmist, but the upcoming battles are going to be brutal in the states. Lawmakers who oppose abortion have been emboldened by Trump and his Supreme Court picks, and we are the first line of defense. Defend access for all by making an urgent gift today.
