Friend -- When Virginia Democrats flipped the General Assembly in 2019, turnout was incredibly high, and more than a few races that put us over the top were extremely close. Here’s what the Washington Post had to say about it at the time:
WaPo:
1: “Several results were still close after polls closed on the most expensive and most watched Virginia legislative races in years”
2: “[I]nterest groups … carpeted the state with money, boosting suburban legislative races to the spending level of congressional elections.”
3: “Officials reported unusually high turnout”

It’s safe to say that in order to keep our majority this November, we’re going to need to work hard to keep turnout high. But we have a couple of factors working against us: First, Virginia elections typically favor the party not in control of the White House. And second, turnout usually drops off in the year after a presidential election.
One thing is clear: We have our work cut out for us if we’re going to keep Virginia blue this year. That’s why we’ve launched the Virginia Turnout Project , a collaborative effort with our national and statewide partners to turn out voters all over the Commonwealth in November. But we’re counting on grassroots supporters like you to help us keep it up!
If you’re able, please make a donation today to help us fund the Virginia Turnout Project and keep the Commonwealth moving forward for ALL Virginians:
