Team,

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is defending Joe Biden's recently-revealed American Jobs Plan -- a $2 trillion infrastructure bill and what Biden has called a “once-in-a-generation” investment in America's future.

Buttigieg is calling the bill a “common sense investment” for the challenges our country is facing -- and progressives agree.

Biden's plan will create millions of jobs and sustainably grow our economy for working families. It will invest in child care, make housing more affordable, and modernize our crumbling infrastructure to meet the climate crisis. The best part? Biden's American Jobs Plan will accomplish this by raising corporate taxes to ensure that the ultra-rich are paying their fair share to rebuild our economy.

That's just scratching the surface of the American Jobs Plan, to be clear. But Republicans are desperate to defend their corporate donors, so they're trying to convince voters that the American Jobs Plan will somehow hurt Americans.

The Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, already opposed the plan as “too costly.” And Mitch McConnell is leading the GOP opposition in the Senate.

The American Jobs Plan is exactly what our country needs to recover from the worst public health crisis and economic crisis in recent history. But one thing is clear: If Republicans didn't care about helping American families through the pandemic, they're not going to act to invest in our future either.
