President Joe Biden just introduced a historic $2 trillion spending bill that would build a more just economy, update America's aging infrastructure, and prepare our country for the future.
Among other things, this proposal will provide considerable resources to increase access to health care, child care, and public transit to underserved communities. Investing in the future of communities across the country will make a critical difference in the lives of so many families -- but Republicans in Congress don't seem to care.
Time and time again, Republicans have refused to help. When the COVID-19 pandemic drove millions of Americans into financial hardship, Republicans pushed back against relief bills. When the AAPI community cried out for help amidst a wave of hateful violence, Republicans tried to turn attention away from us. When two mass shootings struck America in one week, Republicans stuck with their gun lobby allies. And now, when presented with the opportunity to build an American economy that truly works for everybody, they're flat out refusing to budge.
