Recently, Georgia’s Republican governor signed into law an egregious bill that would severely restrict voting rights -- in the same state that helped turn the White House and the Senate blue.

The new Georgia law allows the state legislature to hand-pick election officials, limits drop boxes, shrinks early voting for runoff elections, and shortens the window for absentee ballots. It even makes it a crime to give food or water to voters standing in lines at polling places. And we know exactly who this bill targets -- Black and Brown voters.
There’s no doubt about it: This is voter suppression in action.
And it’s hardly an isolated incident. State Republicans across the country have introduced more than 250 bills making extreme restrictions to voting access in 43 states.
This is an all-out attack on our democracy. We need to fight back with all we have. If you agree that we should be making it easier, not harder, to vote, will you add your name to mine? [[link removed]]
There’s good news though: The House passed a bill that would take tremendous steps to expand voting rights, combat voter suppression like the kind we’re seeing in Georgia, institutes automatic and same-day registration, expand voting by mail and early voting, and take steps to limit the influence of dark money in our politics.
Now, it’s up to the Senate to take action, but it’s in for an uphill battle. Mitch McConnell and conservative groups including one linked to billionaire Charles Koch are coordinating to block our efforts.
I’ve been fighting to make it easier to vote ever since I served as Ohio’s secretary of state and got McDonald’s to print registration forms on its tray liners so folks could order a Big Mac and register to vote at the same time.
Now, I need you in this fight with me. Add your name to mine and condemn Republicans’ coordinated assault on voting rights. [[link removed]]
