The Truth Is a Moral Imperative:
Keep Supporting FAIR!

Dear FAIR friends,

Last month, our country witnessed two mass shootings. Lazy reliance on police reports and morbid obsession with the perpetrator shrouded reports of the murder of eight people in Asian-owned spas in Atlanta. And in response to the Colorado shooting that killed 10, the media reverted to its typical back-and-forth over gun control.

But FAIR’s critique and reporting worked to set the record straight:

Atlanta Murders Reporting Relied on Law Enforcement Narratives

Diana Lu, Michelle Pham and Kim Dela Cruz spotlighted the initial media response of the Atlanta massage parlor shootings that killed eight people — six of them Asian women. They noted that coverage focused primarily on the gunman’s story and police statements, linked the targeted businesses to sex work with insubstantial documentation, and struggled to identify if and how race and gender motivated the gunman.

CounterSpin: ‘Where There Are More Guns, There Are More Gun Deaths’

Igor Volsky, executive director of Guns Down America and author of the book Guns Down: How to Defeat the NRA and Build a Safer Future With Fewer Guns, talked with FAIR’s Janine Jackson about the false dichotomy corporate media create between effective gun regulation and the Second Amendment.

As you may know, FAIR does not accept advertisements or corporate funders. Therefore, it is YOU, our readers and listeners, who allow us to continue this nuanced and bold truth-telling. Your donations directly pay our writers, transcribers, radio engineer, utilities, salaries and the landlord. Every donation counts.

Please donate now!

To avoid pestering our readers, FAIR keeps our fundraising appeals to a bare minimum.

This is our first appeal of the year. Please take advantage of it to continue to support our driven and dedicated team so that we can keep doing what we set out to do decades ago: speak truth to power and challenge the status quo—especially in times of chaos and fear.

Please give what you can. Again, any amount is deeply appreciated.

Thank you!

From,

Jim, Janine, Julie, Deborah and Olivia
