You’re our hero, conservation voter!
Wisconsin Conservation Voters is proud of all our endorsed candidates across the state who worked so hard in their communities. Yesterday’s elections, our fifth under this pandemic, again exhibited the importance and effectiveness of voting local.
A few highlights:

• We elected Mitch Reynolds, a pro-conservation mayor in La Crosse.
• We elected Emily Siegrist, a conservation champion, for Village Board in Brown Deer.
• We elected Cindy Boyle, a clean water advocate, to the chair of the Peshtigo Town Board. Cindy’s election gives that board a pro-conservation and pro-woman majority in a PFAS hotspot.
• Jilly Gokalgandhi became the first South Asian to be elected to the Milwaukee School Board.
• Jonathon Hansen was re-elected to the De Pere city council.

In yet another testament to the importance of every single vote in local elections, our endorsed candidate for Appleton’s city council president lost by just TWO VOTES.

This election, though not a perfect score, proves the work we’ve undertaken together across the state is having incredible results – it can change the entire footing of a community toward clean energy, accessible democracy, and a brighter future.

As Organizing and Political Director, I’m deeply grateful to you and all of our members and supporters. Your commitment through these hard-fought elections over the past year – all under a worldwide pandemic that has claimed thousands and thousands of Wisconsin lives – is nothing short of astonishing.

Yes, work remains to be done. One thing these election results prove is that the work we’re all doing together is effective and crucial in shaping our future from the street corner to the world stage.
