COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs

  • Who can get the vaccine now?
As of March 29, 2021, all Texans 16 years and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Where can I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
North Texans should visit dshs.texas.gov/covidvaccine to find local vaccination sites and providers.

  • Is the COVID-19 vaccine free?
Yes. As part of the American Rescue Plan that I helped to pass last month, the COVID-19 vaccine is available free of cost to all individuals, regardless of insurance status. Check with your vaccine provider for any administrative fees.

  • Now that there is a vaccine, do we still have to wear masks?
Yes. The CDC and infectious disease experts recommend that we continue to wear a mask in public, practice social distancing and hand hygiene, and avoid large gatherings.

  • What if I’ve been fully vaccinated?
If you’ve been fully vaccinated, there are some recommendations from the CDC on which activities are safe to return to.
