Friend,
Over the last year, our country has had a lot of tough and long overdue conversations about what justice ought to look like in America. These conversations have centered on ugly truths: There are structures within our justice systems that have emboldened hate and racism. They must be rooted out.
Congressional Democrats are acting. Just recently, the House passed the Justice in Policing Act, a piece of legislation that will bring about significantly greater accountability in policing and eliminate discriminatory policing practices.
Racism is America’s ghost in the room. We have suffered from it, we have struggled with it, we have died from it. The legislation we just passed is about bettering the lives of every American, and it's imperative that the Senate approve the Justice in Policing Act as well.
But it's not just me who needs to speak up. It's you. It's this entire grassroots movement. So today, I'm challenging you and 132 others of this team to make your voices heard before 11:59 p.m. tonight – because your activism is crucial to changing our justice system. Speak up now:
Should the Senate pass the Justice in Policing Act?
