Care Can't Wait Summit

John - This #RecoveryRecess, we hope you can help us build our care movement and join us on Saturday April 10 at 12pm ET for the Care Can’t Wait Summit. This free, virtual event will include Speaker Pelosi, Amy Schumer, former NFL player Devon Still, Secretary Raimondo, musician JohnnySwim and more exciting speakers to be announced soon. Care workers and caregivers will share their incredibly human experience of caring for another person and we’ll explore how we can seize this historic opportunity to invest in a care infrastructure that works for everyone.

It's time for major investments in our nation’s care infrastructure and Biden’s proposed $400 billion in home and community services is historic. But we know that #CareCantWait and so we're coming together to fight for home and community-based services, child care, paid leave and the caregivers who care for us!

American families are in crisis. In 2020 more than 2.3 million women left the labor force, more than 600,000 of whom were Black and 618,000 of whom were Latina. In 12 short months we lost generations of economic gains for women when the need to care for children and loved ones forced them out of the workforce.

At the same time, the workforce that provides care — most of whom are women, and up to 31% of whom are Black women — was on the front lines of the pandemic without adequate pay or support.

The pandemic has laid bare the devastating economic and personal costs of our country’s failure to invest in care. That’s why Congress must ensure that the upcoming recovery package includes significant investments in America's care infrastructure.

On April 10, 2021, the Care Can’t Wait National Summit will ignite this demand, and we want YOU to be there to hear directly from caregivers and to take action together.
