Hello, hello!
My name is Aubrey, and I’m a Digital Organizer at Stand Up America.
I hate to brag, but I think I’ve earned the title of Master of Fun on our team. Whether it’s getting staff together on Zoom to hang out, or making sure our volunteer organizing team is energized to take action, you can count on me to bring the pep.
So as Master of Fun, I’m personally inviting you to our next Fun Friday, where you can learn more about key democracy policy proposals from us and our partners -- and then ask the presenters your burning questions and find out how to take action.
This upcoming Fun Friday, which will take place at 4 pm ET on Friday, April 9th, is all about the fight for D.C. Statehood. We’ll be working with Jamal Holtz, the lead organizer of 51 for 51, to break down the ins and outs of the campaign to make D.C. the 51st state -- and how you can get involved!

Why is it so important to advocate for D.C. Statehood? Like Jamal laid out in his blog post last week, 712,000 D.C. residents, the majority of whom are Black and Brown Americans, do not have full voting rights or any voting representation in Congress. This means D.C. is at the mercy of politicians like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, and other conservative lawmakers who consistently vote against policies that would empower Black and Brown D.C. residents.
Have questions? Want to learn more? Then join us on Friday at 4 pm ET! It’s going to be tons of fun and a great way to learn more about the fight for D.C. Statehood and how you can plug in. Plus you’ll get to meet other members of the Stand Up America community like yours truly.
Can’t wait to see you there!
Aubrey Langley
Digital Organizer, Stand Up America
P.S. Can’t join us on Friday? That’s okay! Check out Jamal’s post on why statehood matters and how you can join in the fight and share it with your friends and family.
