According to the FBI, March 2021 was the second highest month on record for firearms sales.
Last month, news of tragic mass shootings devastated the nation and recaptured its attention yet again. But make no mistake, gun violence never went away during the pandemic. In fact, it surged—and so did gun sales. With more guns in circulation than ever, we need to act fast to prevent more tragedies.
Right now, we’re pushing the Senate to pass universal background checks. The House already passed a bipartisan bill, so now we need the Senate to have the courage to act.
During the pandemic, fearmongers pushed people to go out and purchase firearms. As life returns to normal, we need to do everything we can to stop guns from getting into the hands of the wrong people.

We expect universal background checks to come up for a vote in the Senate in the coming weeks. 90% of Americans agree there should be a simple background check before acquiring a firearm. So Congress needs to step up and represent their constituents.
