John -
This last week has been a non-stop whirlwind of news and chaos coming out of the White House. It increasingly looks like President Trump not only abused his power by pushing the president of Ukraine to go after a political rival, but that senior members of his administration were aware of his illegal actions and went to great lengths to cover them up.
This is a perilous time for our democracy, and we’re not going to sugarcoat that. The House is conducting a formal impeachment inquiry, and with more disturbing revelations of unethical, potentially impeachable conduct coming out daily, it’s hard to say what the next few weeks, or even the next few hours will bring.
Here at CREW, we are redoubling our focus on the anti-corruption work we’ve been doing since the start of the Trump administration—and for years before. Hundreds of monthly donors have enabled us to keep pace with all the corruption and conflicts of interest, and in the coming months, that ongoing support will be more important than ever.
Will you join them and become a monthly donor today, helping us keep up the fight to defend our democracy?
As a special thank you if you join our sustaining donor program today, you will receive an invitation to an exclusive call with CREW Executive Director Noah Bookbinder this Friday, October 4th. Noah will be briefing sustaining donors on recent developments in our work at CREW, answering questions, and talking about the road ahead for our democracy.
Just in the last week, we’ve taken several important legal actions to force transparency, our executive director Noah Bookbinder authored a New York Times op-ed, and CREW senior advisor Walter Shaub testified before Congress about the GSA’s management of the lease for the Trump Hotel in DC. We’ll have more updates coming soon, including actions related to the ongoing Ukraine scandal.
Supporters like you are crucial to our ability to continue standing up for our democracy and fighting for accountability. We hope you’ll consider making an ongoing commitment to CREW’s work with a monthly donation today.
Thank you,
The CREW Team
