Natural Gas Ban Rally

Thursday, April 8, 11 AM

Join us at 11:00 AM EDT on Thursday, April 8 for the launch of our New York City Gas Ban campaign with New York Communities for Change and the New York Public Interest Research Group. The Mayor has pledged to ban natural gas hookups in new construction and major renovations by 2030, but he’s leaving office and that’s far too late. Natural gas is a fossil fuel that contributes to climate change, and cooking with it creates harmful indoor air pollution (learn more here ([link removed]) ). That’s why we need to ban new natural gas hookups now - to reduce emissions, improve health, and create jobs. Join us for this online rally with New York City Council members Alicka Ampry-Samuel and Costa Constantinides. RSVP Here ([link removed])

Energy Democracy in Action Workshop

Thursday, April 8, 6 PM

Join us at 6:00 PM EDT on Thursday, April 8 for the New York Energy Democracy Alliance’s Energy Democracy in Action workshop to learn how we can achieve energy democracy in New York State by advancing the Energy Efficiency Equity and Jobs Act, utility debt cancellation, and public power. To meet New York State’s emissions reduction goals laid out in the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act, we must equitably improve the energy efficiency of our buildings. That’s why we created the Energy Efficiency Equity and Jobs Act ([link removed]) , which will reduce emissions and create jobs for our communities. We are also pursuing utility debt forgiveness, because energy is a necessity and the pandemic has left far too many of us unable to pay our utility bills. And we are also supporting two public power bills, one of which would expand publicly owned, utility-scale renewable energy generation across the state and the other start the process of converting
the state’s distribution grid to public ownership. RSVP Here ([link removed])
