John,

After the past week’s deluge of end of quarter fundraising appeals, we’re asking you to put your wallet away.

Social Security is going to be a critical issue in both the Democratic primary and the 2020 general election―and Social Security Works will be working overtime to spread the truth about Social Security. It isn’t going to be easy or cheap. But we’re not asking for your money. We need your vote.

This month, you can support Social Security Works without opening your wallet. Our friends at CREDO Action have selected us to receive a share of $150,000 in funding. Vote for us today!

Next year, the airwaves will be filled with disgusting and misleading political ads. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell will both be running for reelection, spending more than a billion dollars on ads to try to confuse the American public (unless Trump is impeached first). And, no doubt, the GOP and its allies on Wall Street will be turning the gears to work to undermine the future of Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare.

But we are not going to let their plan work.

Between now and next year’s election, we are going to make sure the American people have a full and clear understanding of what is on the line. Together, we are going to cut through the GOP’s disinformation campaign. And, we are going to make sure the American people have the FACTS about Social Security.

We are going to make sure they know that Social Security lifts more than 22 million Americans―including more than 1 million children―out of poverty each year. We are going to make sure people know that Social Security is extremely efficient with less than 1 percent going to administrative costs. And we are going to make sure people understand that strengthening and expanding Social Security is one of the most effective ways to counter income inequality.

The United States is the wealthiest country in the world. There is no reason―none!―that we can’t pass legislation to protect and expand Social Security for millions of Americans.

The more votes we get this month, the more funds Social Security Works receives! Together, let’s build a war chest―without even opening your wallet―to fight to protect and expand Social Security.

Year after year, Republicans have sought to cut, privatize and dismantle Social Security. We are not going to let them do that. Instead, we are going to continue building a powerful, national movement to protect―and expand―Social Security.

Social Security Works knows that the best defense against right-wing lies is a good offense. That's why we fight every day to expand―never cut―our Social Security system!

Social Security Works was formed to fight back against the attacks on our earned benefits and to shift the conversation away from cuts and toward expansion. CREDO is not only a critical organizing ally, but has also―thanks to your votes―donated over $500,000 to Social Security Works in the past.

Please take a moment to vote today to help fulfill our mission: To protect and expand Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and lower prescription drug prices!

Thank you for your support,

Michael Phelan
