John -- In a recent op-ed for Fox News, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp claims that the new voter suppression law he just signed actually expands voting rights. That’s rich coming from someone with a well-documented history of abusing his own power to make it harder to vote!

The truth is that the new voter suppression law in Georgia is everything its critics are making it out to be. In addition to imposing onerous voter ID requirements on absentee ballots and allowing the state to take over local election boards, it makes it a crime to give water to voters who have been standing in line for hours.

Republicans like Kemp know they’re playing defense. That’s why they’re desperate to do everything they can to make sure fewer people vote -- this new law in Georgia is just one part of a nationwide coordinated push to restrict voting rights. But they won’t succeed if we have anything to say about it.
