California’s Employment Development Department has failed too many of our citizens — including our heroic wildland firefighters.

Kevin recently shared an op-ed from Kelly Ramsey, a seasonal firefighter who was DENIED unemployment benefits by the EDD, with the reason listed, “You did not perform work during the above period.”

Ramsey wrote that when he started sharing his plight on social media, he got an overwhelming response: No one was getting unemployment benefits.

This is absolutely unacceptable! Californians like Kelly Ramsey literally put their lives on the line to keep us safe, and now they’re unable to get the help they need, when they need it.

Fixing the deep problems with the EDD is at the top of Kevin’s list as your next governor of California. It’s one of Gavin Newsom’s MANY failures as the top executive of the Golden State, and it’s why we’re getting closer to a recall election every single day.

We must prioritize fixing this now, so that we can take care of people like Kelly Ramsey, who keep us safe from deadly wildfires.

We must get the word out that the EDD is failing Californians, so that we can demand change at the ballot box this November. We need a real leader, not Gavin Newsom who has failed our firefighters time and again.
