I just ended my second debate and went head-to-head with Terry McAuliffe for the first time on the debate stage. Tonight made it even more clear: we’ve officially made this a two-person race between me and McAuliffe. And this is officially a race between the status quo and the future.
Bottom line: The status quo isn’t going to cut it. Whoever wins this primary will probably be facing a self-proclaimed “Trump in heels” who is leading on the Republican side.
Polling shows that I am the candidate Virginians want to vote for in this election -- and with the right resources, we will win the primary AND in November.
I’m feeling good after tonight’s debate, and the initial response online shows that our message for Virginia’s future is resonating. Now is the time for our campaign to capitalize on our debate momentum and seal the deal.
There’s no more time to waste. Voting starts in a few weeks.

Thanks and hope you have a good night,

Jennifer Carroll Foy was born and raised in Petersburg. In 2017, she flipped a Republican district as a first-time candidate pregnant with twins. During her time as Delegate, Jennifer championed the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, helped expand Medicaid to 400,000 Virginians, and advocated for the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable communities.
She has a career of public service and it started long before 2017. As a public defender, Jennifer helped give a voice to the often voiceless — children, people suffering from addiction, those experiencing homelessness, those with mental illness, and the poor.
Now she’s running to be the first woman elected Governor of Virginia and serve as the first Black woman to be governor nationwide.
