From the Washington Post: After school shootings, NRA exec sought refuge on 108-foot yacht: 'Thank God I'm safe'
John,
We’ve always known the NRA lacked morals, but this might be a new low. More than ever, we need your help to end their reign of terror once and for all.
In a deposition for the NRA’s bankruptcy trial this week, former CEO Wayne LaPierre said that he sought safety on a borrowed yacht (complete with personal chef and staff) after the mass shootings in Parkland, FL, and Newtown, CT. That’s right, John : After mass shooters devastated communities and senselessly ended the lives of young children, high schoolers, and adults, Wayne LaPierre thought only of himself and his luxury.
For decades, the NRA has claimed to be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization operating for "common good," when in reality they have looted and victimized their donor base by misusing their money for personal gain. And while Wayne LaPierre lived on yachts and NRA executives padded their pockets, thousands of American lives were stolen by gun violence, and the rest of us were told these fears were an essential part of American life.
John, we’ve had enough of the NRA’s corruption and living in fear. We must keep fighting to hold them accountable for their deadly lies. Now, with their malfeasance on full display, we are poised to deal the NRA their final blow and end their reign of terror once and for all, but we need your help to do it:
